MarketingChartsAfter having been arrested in Las Vegas for assaulting his girlfriend, HBO chairman and chief executive Chris Albrecht has agreed to resign.
Albrecht's resignation came a day after he announced that he was an alcoholic, that the incident in Las Vegas resulted as a lapse of his sobriety and that he was taking a leave of absence, writes The New York Times.
"I had been a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 13 years," Albrecht wrote in a memo to HBO employees. "Two years ago, I decided that I could handle drinking again. Clearly, I was wrong."
The company's COO, Bill Nelson, a longtime HBO executive, will take over Albrecht's duties until a permanent replacement is named.
