MediaBuyerPlanner: CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful has hired ex-American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis to play a music producer on the show, in the hopes of improving ratings among women 18-34.
Nearly all daytime dramas have posted double-digit losses among that demo in the past two years, writes Media Life. The Bold and the Beautiful is this season's second-ranked daytime drama among households, but it ranked second-to-last among the nine soaps in women 18-34 last season.
Maroulis made the top six on Idol two years ago and recently appeared in the Broadway musical The Wedding Singer. His MySpace page boasts more than 20,000 "friends," many of whom have sent messages anticipating his debut on The Bold and the Beautiful.
