Hearst, Fox Team to Create Online and TV Series

stumbleupon digg del.icio.us

MarketingVOX: Hearst Magazines and Fox TV are partnering to create original series for online and TV based on Hearst magazine titles, reports AdAge.

CosmoGirl and Popular Mechanics are the first two Hearst titles being used as the inspiration for an original series. The 2-3-minute episodes will appear on each title's website.

No details yet on the Popular Mechanics series, but the CosmoGirl video will be a serialized soap guided in part by fans' votes on what should happen next.

The two companies will split evenly advertising revenue from the venture. If this initial test proves successful, more titles will get their own original series. The number of episodes being produced has not yet been decided.
