MediaBuyerPlanner: Tribune-Review Publishing Co., parent of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, has agreed to purchase six weekly newspapers in Westmoreland Country (Pennsylvania).
The purchase would encompass the Laurel Group of Newspapers, which include The Mount Pleasant Journal, The Independent Observer of Scottdale, The Ligonier Echo, The Times Sun of West Newton, The Advisor and the Jeanette Spirit, writes Editor & Publisher.
The weekly papers have a combined staff of 24.
Tribune-Review Publishing also owns five dailies, an afternoon tabloid and 18 other weekly newspapers.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
