NBC 'Nightly News' Producer Out

stumbleupon digg del.icio.us

MediaBuyerPlanner: As expected, the executive producer of NBC's Nightly News with Brian Williams will be replaced, following ABC's rise in the nightly news ratings war.

John Reiss will be reassigned after less than two years on the job, according to the AP. The change will be formally announced within a week.

NBC has mostly led the evening news ratings for the last decade, since Tom Brokaw was the anchor. That, plus the fact that it also leads the morning news, keeps the network at the top in news ratings, allowing it to charge advertisers a premium. But now that both ABC and CBS have changed anchors in the past year, media buyers and advertisers are watching news ratings closely to see if any new, long-term trends can be expected.
