MediaBuyerPlanner: HD digital radio receivers will be sold beginning today in Wal-Mart stores, backed by a major advertising campaign that also begins today.
The radios, which will retail for under $190, will be sold in 1,989 Wal-Mart stores in 85 markets, writes Radio Ink. The radio campaign will run on HD Digital Radio Alliance-member stations.
Wal-Mart will stock the JVC HD-W10 Mobile HD Radio receiver, which Tim Clark, automotive buyer for Wal-Mart, calls "a high-quality unit… at a competitive price."
The Sharper Image recently announced that it would be selling HD Radio receivers, as well.
