New Shopping Engine 'Like Google Maps for Merchandise'

stumbleupon digg del.icio.us

MarketingVOX: A new comparison-shopping engine developed by Dotted.Pair allows people to look at hundreds of products on one page, giving them freedom to drag and zoom on items of interest, reports MIT's Advertising Lab.

With 25 percent of purchases being unplanned and as a result of undirected browsing according to Dotted.Pair's website, the engine will up the usual number of products displayed while browsing on such sites- usually only a dozen or so per page - to hundreds.

"Works like Google Maps for merchandise… If this interface can be licensed and layered on the top of the existing e-commerce engines, we'll see more stores adopting this approach," comments Advertising Lab.
