MarketingVOX: MySpace is the most popular social networking site among U.S. mobile social networkers - those who upload content captured on their mobile phones - with 32 percent of them doing so to MySpace from their phone or PC, according to research from telecom and mobile media market research firm Telephia.
Facebook is the second most popular social-networking site among mobile social networkers, with a reach of 13 percent, ahead of Windows Live Spaces at 11 percent. Mobile social networkers are much younger than the general mobile-user population, and MySpace is by far their favorite destination: 69 percent of those 15-17 years old, for example, use the site to share pictures, videos and personal details.
Among Britons who upload content captured on their mobile phones, MySpace, Windows Live Spaces, YouTube and Bebo are the most popular social-networking sites (with 21 percent, 18 percent, 9 percent and 9 percent reach, respectively). Among British mobile social networkers, 9 percent are in the 15-17 age group, versus five percent of the total mobile population.
Social network Bebo is particularly popular with British teenagers - 40 percent of the 15-17-year-old mobile social networkers use the site. MySpace and Windows Live Spaces attract 27 percent and 28 percent of them to their sites.
