MediaBuyerPlanner: Us Weekly's Oct. 4 edition may be the title's worst-selling issue of the year so far, with sales estimates a full 20 percent below average.
The issue flaunts Whitney Houston on the cover - a choice that definitely wasn't editor in chief Janice Min's idea, according to an inside source, writes Radar Online. Rather, the idea was that of Jann Wenner, owner of Us as well as Rolling Stone and Men's Journal, the article claims.
The cover was one in a series of much-needed experiments to see who the magazine can include on its covers beyond Angelina Jolie or Jessica Simpson. Still, says one Us writer, "Whenever Jann gets involved with a cover, the numbers are not good."
