Here's what's happening with some Daily Fix contributors these days....
* Ted Page's agency, Captains of Industry, is launching what he calls the Web's first bilingual interactive video advice column: the "Ask Dr. Clark" show.
“Ask Dr. Clark” includes a range of short video clips in both English and Spanish featuring a chain-smoking 1960s-era physician who looks suspiciously like someone we know. He invites viewers not only to watch videos, but also to interact by emailing him questions.
Sure, it’s funny. Actually, it’s a riot. But Ted says that his show is serious business: “Created for marketing managers, the show demonstrates how fun video content can help pull traffic to corporate Web sites and enable companies to engage customers and build stronger connections with brands.”
* The new book by MarketingProfs Publisher Allen Weiss and Director of Strategy Roy Young (along with David Stewart) ships this week.
The book, Marketing Champions : Strategies for Improving Marketing's Power, Influence and Business Impact, considers marketing “the engine of every enterprise, responsible for communicating with consumers and connecting them with the products they need.”
But in many organizations, the guys write, marketing is the Rodney Dangerfield of the organization: “ underutilized, underfunded, and unable to make its full contribution to the company.” If you feel that pain, Roy and Allen have the antidote.
* David Armano is featured in this week’s MarketingProfs newsletter and Web site with his excellent piece, How to Be a Compassionate Designer for Passionate Customers. David writes, “If we feel for the people we design for—we will do what is in their best interest.” Then he offers a complete roadmap, complete with pictures.
* This very blog has creeped up two spots – from number 9 to number 7 spot on The Viral Garden’s list of the Top 25 Marketing Blogs. Keeping us company on the list are blogs penned by Daily Fix contributors Seth Godin (#1), John Jantsch (#3), BL Ochman (#11), David Armano (#15), Joe Jaffe (#16), Karl Long (#17), Toby Bloomberg (#18), Mario Sundar (#19), Spike Jones (#23) and Mack Collier himself (#10). See the full list here.
* And finally, speaking of Mack Collier, he has joined our good friends at Watershed Publishing as a writer for its flagship online marketing news publication, MarketingVOX. Congrats, Mack! The gig is part-time. So if any big music labels are interested in knocking on Mack's door, it remains open.
Your turn. Contributors, readers: Got any news you'd like to share with the community? Feel free to post it below.

Mack: I know...amazing the people have a life outside of Moveable Type (...or Blogger, Wordpress, and so on)!
And Lewis: Congrats! I forgot to mention that Lewis will start blogging for the Daily Fix soon, as well. Thanks for chiming in, as always, Lewis.

Ann,
I really appreciate when you do things like this. It's such a nice way to keep up with who is doing what.
Mack, congrats on the new gig—and Lewis, welcome to the Fix.
Great stuff.

Since you're all sharing, I have amazing news.
No, I didn’t win the lottery.
No, I didn’t get a $100,000 business contract.
No, CBS didn’t call asking me to co-host the evening news with Katie Couric.
No, I didn’t get a lucrative recording contract to do a CD of jazz greats. (I used to sing professionally in a former life.)
And, no, I didn’t lose 30 pounds. (shucks)
I broke 100 on the golf course two weeks ago and shot 97! I even got 44 on the front nine!
Oh, and my article entitled, "How to Hire a Consultant" was published in the fall issue of the Stanford Social Innovation Review. www.ssireview.org.
