MediaBuyerPlanner: The NFL season has gotten off to a soaring start as far as television viewers, and it looks as though a great number of viewers are watching the broadcasts out of their homes, as well.
According to Arbitron's portable people meter results in the Houston market, between 18 and 31 percent of people aged 25-54 who watched pre-season games and two regular season games did so outside the home, writes Mediaweek. For example, 31 percent of people in that demo in Houston who watched the Redskins-Bengals game on Aug. 13 did so away from home. That's more than twice the 13 percent of entertainment programming that generally takes place outside the home in that market, according to the article.
The opening day regular season game on Sept. 10 on Fox-owned KRIV was watched out-of-home by 26 percent of the persons 18-49 and 27 percent of persons 25-54 who watched the game.
