MediaBuyerPlanner: Gannett's advertising revenue dipped just slightly in August, down 0.9 percent from the same month last year.
The performance of small and mid-size advertisers outpaced the revenue performance of Gannett's largest advertisers, writes Editor & Publisher, with local advertising showing an increase of 1.7 percent on a 0.5 percent increase in Run of Press (ROP) ad volume. National advertising dropped 1 percent on a 10.5 percent decline in ad volume.
Classified revenue fell 3.2 percent, on a 1.9 percent decrease in ROP volume. Real estate revenue was up 8.9 percent, while employment was down 6.2 percent and automotive dropped 13.3 percent respectively. Automotive advertising in magazines remained relatively flat in August, but has plunged 14.6 percent year to date.
