MediaBuyerPlanner: CBS will debut a new three-hour Saturday-morning kids block, KOL's Secret Slumber Party, on September 16.
The show will be aimed at children ages 6-12, Broadcasting and Cable reports.
The show will be jointly programmed by CBS, DIC (a kids programmer) and AOL. The program is considered to be E/I compliant by the FCC, which requires that each TV station carry a weekly program of education and informational programming of at least three hours. According to the article, the E/I designation is primarily used by the FCC to identify the programming and not to monitor for compliance.
In the past, activist groups have complained to the FCC that some of the DIC E/I compliant shows are not educational. However, after consulting with educational advisors, the FCC responded by stating that shows dealing with honesty and cooperation can also be educational.
