India Market Ripe for DMers

MediaBuyerPlanner: Direct Marketers who enter the international market through Canada, Britain and Australia should take a close look at India where English is one of the most widely spoken languages, DMNews reports.

Some points to keep in mind if entering the market: no translation is needed on direct mail pieces; there aren't many regulations around marketing and direct marketing in India (a sweepstakes in India recently required people to purchase a product in order to enter; the list market is growing but immature when it comes to the U.S.; list costs range from $5 per million to $300 per million; and India currently has many alternative media options, such as door stops via India Post which allows marketers to reach every household in India for $25 per million.
