Record Online Ad Spending to Reach $3.9 Billion in Q1

MediaBuyerPlanner: Internet ad spending growth has yet to slow down, as the Interactive Advertising Bureau projects record first-quarter online ad spending to hit $3.9 billion, up from the same period last year and last quarter 38 percent and 6 percent respectively, writes Adweek.

These growth figures would suggest that the industry continues to expand, despite recent partnerships that could theoretically constrict the marketplace - such as last week's alliance that allows Yahoo to sell all graphical ads on eBay.

While IAB's online projections released Tuesday show fast-paced growth, online ad spending is still far less than traditional media, which earned $125 billion last year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
