We've recently started a blog at Bizzuka.com, the company I serve as marketing director, and occasionally share anecdotal information about staff or things we're doing in the community. It's a way to let those interested understand more about our company culture and personality. A couple more suggestions…

While I don't believe the site qualifies as a blog, your point about media coverage is valid - however, the blade cuts both ways in that media coverage could be positive/negative. Marketers using social media must be prepared to handle both.
